People Traffic Prevention, Counteraction and Victims’ Protection National Program was approved by the Bulgarian government

Amendments in the Criminal Code shall be proposed till the end of the year foreseeing criminalizing the conscious using of services of victims of human traffic. This legislative measure is a part of 2008 National program with the idea to prevent, counteract and protect traffic victims.
The program contains measures in the following sectors:
- prevention, emphasizing on purposeful work with risky groups from society;
- prevention, revealing and punishing the traffic of people;
- victims' protection in order to their soon recovery and reintegration.
Better knowledge and more information about human rights as well as risks and consequences from people traffic are foreseen to be provided by school and even pre-school age teach-in. Specially concerned shall be representatives of risky groups, for example ethnic minorities.
Experts should work on restriction and prevention of Internet using as a mean of potential traffic victims' involvement. In order to give victims support medical and psychological aid should be provided by special protection centers.
Furthermore, an international round table conference due to experience and good practices exchange shall be held till the end of the year.
