15 000 BGN fine for Bulgarian employer hiring without a labour contract

Employers who hire workers without contractual relations shall be fined with 15 000 BGN per each employee. At the present moment the current sanction for that kind of violation of the law is at the amount of 1 000 to 1 500 BGN. The bill for amendment of the Bulgarian Labour code shall be discussed in the Parliament next week.
The fine for employers who do not observe the legal stipulations for working time and keep their employees for long after their working time is increased to the same amount at 10 000 to 15 000 BGN. Also fines for obstruction of health and safety condition of labour were increased as follows:
In construction works - For employee who is not using any safety precautions, helmet, special shoes, safety wear - from 20 - 250 BGN to 100 - 500 BGN; For the employer from 1 500 - 5 000 BGN now to 10 000 - 15 000 BGN after passing the bill.
Investigators' and inspectors' rights are increase. For example they shall be entitled to photograph with camera or a video recorder any violations in the investigated company and even to close it as requesting identification cards from the hired employees. The footage shall be used as evidence in court.
Other amendments aim for equalization of rights of employees with temporary contracts with the rights of employees with termless contracts.
