By the end of 2009 Bulgarian health authorities will be able to launch electronic health records

This will be the first electronic system in the health sector and it will be available for almost 7 million people. Bulgarian patients will have online access to their electronic record. It will include personal information such as medical conditions, allergies etc. and every health insured patient will have his personal password to his record.Physicians will have their own password to access the electronic records. At the end of July this year they will send their first e-reports to the Bulgarian Health Insurance Fund. This procedure will make redundant visits of the regional offices of National Health Insurance Fund. That means that there will be more time for patients and less time lost in administrative procedures.
There is another huge advantage of the e-system the fact that it will ease the control over physicians` diagnosis. That means that if there are some inaccuracies or mistakes in them, they will be quickly fixed. The new system will also help for the more efficient spending of money and for the suspension of illegal payments. All this equals better medical and dental services for every health insured Bulgarian patient.
